Boss on Sheffield friendly

We spoke to manager Paul Hartley following his sides final pre-season match against Sheffield United on Friday night. He told us, ” I thought the performance, especially first half was good. Disappointed with the goals that we lost. We didn’t think they worked hard enough for their goals, they were through errors from us but I think the performance and they way we performed first half were pretty pleasing.

The match saw Luka Tankulic get his 4th goal in 3 pre-season games for the club and also saw fellow German Thomas Konrad hit the net for the first time as a Dundee player, Paul told us, “I thought Luka’s goal was excellent. Took it really well, it was an individual goal. Thomas was determined to get in at the other end. Overall the pre-season games it’s went pretty well.”

With all five games of the build up out of the way, we asked if Paul is any closer to knowing his starting eleven ahead of the competitive action getting underway next Saturday with a League Cup game against Peterhead at Dens, he told us, “It’s something that we’ll work on, on Monday. It’s back to our normal week, the real stuff starts on Saturday and we’re looking forward to it.”

Despite being a Friday night, the match in Sheffield still saw a number of Dundee fans make the long joinery South to cheer on the side, the manager said of the supporters, “They’ve been excellent, they are traveling all over the place so I’m pleased with that also.”
