Hearts U20 Vs

Dundee kicked off the SPFL Development League with a 1-1 draw against Hearts at Ochilview last night.

Jimmy Boyle’s side included two trialists along with first teamers Jesse Curran, Tom Hateley and Lewis Spence.

The Dee took the lead after just four minutes after good work down the right by Hateley. His cross found Matty Henvey who did brilliantly to shift the ball out of his feet before whipping it past Hearts keeper Kelby Mason.

Dundee grew in confidence from then and dominated the early period of the match but couldn’t add to their lead despite efforts from Spence and one of the trialists.

The ‘home’ side edged their way back into the match and a fantastic save from Kyle Gourlay to push a close range effort onto the bar kept Dundee in the lead but there was little the keeper could do about the leveller just before the break.

A neat passing move from Hearts ended when Rory Currie found Dario Zanatta and the winger had time in the box to pick his spot and fired home.

The second half was an even affair with both teams defending well and other than a few crosses flashing across the face of goal there was little to report until the match burst into life in the final minutes.

Dundee broke on Hearts with only a minute remaining and the trialist striker got a fine shot away but Mason was equal to it. Straight up the other end of the park and Callum Morrison got between Dundee’s centre halfs and went over in the box. The referee had a big decision to make and infuriated the home bench when he waved play on.

The draw gets Dundee underway for the season and up next is the ‘Wee Derby’ when we face Dundee United next week.
